What Is Your Health Care Story?
Women in New York and all over the country take on more than their fair share of unpaid care work when adequate health care is not available or affordable. Women, disproportionately women of color and immigrant women, bear the burden of an unequal health care system that affects access to reproductive, pre-natal, and maternal health care. Because of this, the U.S. has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the developed world, and the women of the U.S. have limited access to abortion and birth control.
National Women's Liberation is currently working with Campaign for New York Health to win New Yorkers universal health care. Please fill out the survey here so NWL and the NYH Campaign can better understand the challenges New Yorkers face accessing health care. Your participation will help us advocate more effectively for a health care system that guarantees care for all New Yorkers.
For more reading about why health care is a feminist issue we recommend Redstockings' book Confronting the Myth of America. The Campaign for New York Heath has more information about how the NYHA will benefit women and working families.
