DESCRIPTION:*RSVP on Eventbrite* \nIn light of the current court cases in Texas and Mississippi\, NWL will be devoting this month’s general meeting to a discussion of the current state of our fight for abortion rights. There will be brief presentations on the Texas case\, the Mississippi case\, the REMS restrictions on the abortion pill\, and the Women’s Health Protection Act currently before congress\, followed by a discussion on how our organizing should proceed. \nThe Women’s March is calling for nationwide marches in defense of our reproductive rights on October 2nd\, right before the Supreme Court reconvenes. NWL will have a presence at the New York and Florida marches; we will send you more details as they become available. \nFor more discussion on how we should fight for abortion rights\, NWL member Jenny Brown (author of Birth Strike and Without Apology) has written a piece for Jacobin magazine – It’s Time for Abortion Rights Activists to Push a Federal Abortion Rights Law. \n“To listen to the pundits\, you’d think there’s nothing that can be done. But our reproductive freedom is not at the mercy of this unelected panel of anti-abortion justices. In fact\, Congress could pass a law making abortion legal and available throughout the United States\, and there’s not much the Supreme Court or the Texas legislature could do about it.”
