NWL will have a presence at the New York and Florida marches; we will send you more details as they become available. \nFor more discussion on how we should fight for abortion rights\, NWL member Jenny Brown (author of Birth Strike and Without Apology) has written a piece for Jacobin magazine – It’s Time for Abortion Rights Activists to Push a Federal Abortion Rights Law. \n“To listen to the pundits\, you’d think there’s nothing that can be done. But our reproductive freedom is not at the mercy of this unelected panel of anti-abortion justices. In fact\, Congress could pass a law making abortion legal and available throughout the United States\, and there’s not much the Supreme Court or the Texas legislature could do about it.”

DESCRIPTION:RSVP here \nThe NWL Women of Color Caucus (WOCC) is hosting a community Consciousness-Raising (CR) on Sunday\, Nov. 14 from 3-5pm\, which will be a follow up to the COVID CR series that NWL hosted last year. This meeting is for women* of color only. RSVP required \nThe CR question we will be answering is: \nHow has the COVID-19 pandemic affected you? (health-wise\, economically\, etc.) Has it cost you anything? Have you gained anything? What support did you need during the pandemic that you got? What support did you need during the pandemic that you have not gotten?  \nCR is is a tool that the Women’s Liberation Movement adopted from the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s\, where it was called “telling it like it is.” In C-R\, women answer a question using examples from their personal lives\, then the group uses these personal testimonies to draw conclusions about the political root of women’s so-called “personal” problems. \n*Cis women\, trans women\, and trans people who are oppressed as women who have a political priority in fighting male supremacy.

Wade this summer. If Roe v. Wade is overturned\, 26 states are certain or likely to ban abortion this year (PEW). \nJoin NWL on Saturday\, June 25\, for a teach-in exploring the hidden reasons why abortion is under attack and how we can successfully organize a mass movement to fight back. For those to make the in-person event\, there will be tabling with local organizing groups in Gainesville\, FL. Those who are in person are welcome to join us at 11:30. We’ll start the talk and online session at noon. \nAll are welcome to attend regardless of whether you have read the book.
