DESCRIPTION:We went on strike for the Inauguration\, and now we’re doing it again in coordination with women in 30 countries for International Women’s Day on Wednesday\, March 8\, 2017.  National Women’s Liberation joins organizers of the January Women’s Marches in calling for this international day for women’s freedom and dignity\, #DayWithoutAWoman. Join us! \nWe urge you to find a way to take part. Strike by pulling back from paid or unpaid work that day. Show this country and the rest of the world that ALL women’s work is valuable- and will not be taken for granted. Sign up to strike here. \nIn New York: Washington Square Park\, 4:00 – 8:00 pm. \nIn Gainesville\, Florida: Join us for a picket and speakout at the SW corner of 13th St. and University Ave. from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, March 21st at 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. \nThis meeting is open to all women of color. \nRSVP for Meeting Location \n\nJoin us for a reading discussion and consciousness-raising meeting to discuss what you think the feminist movement should be fighting on right now. \n\nIn the words of human rights activist Loretta Ross\, “Our ability to control what happens to our bodies is constantly challenged by poverty\, racism\, environmental degradation\, sexism\, homophobia\, and injustice in the United States.” \n\nThe current administration\, with the Republicans and Donald Trump at the helm and the ineffectual Democrats on the side-lines\, is determined to cut reproductive health services for women and to expand criminalization of black and brown people. We want to fight for justice and genuine respect\, and we understand that individual solutions will not fix collective problems\, or change the power structure. \n\nIn the words of Black Lives Matters founder Alicia Garza\, “If our movement is not serious about building power\, then we are just engaged in a futile exercise of who can be the most radical.”  Join us for a reading discussion and consciousness-raising meeting to discuss what you think the feminist movement should be fighting on right now. \n\nWe will answer the following questions: \n\nWhat are your thoughts now on what has to be done to win women’s freedom? Has your thinking changed\, and if so\, how and why has it changed? What are you doing now to make this happen?\nAre you currently involved in organizing? Are you currently involved in an organization? Why or why not\, and which one and why?*\n\n\nWe will be reading and discussing the following reading: National Women’s Liberation: What We Want\, What We Believe.
