Guerilla Theater on the Roots of Roe v. Wade
See a reenactment of Women's Liberation organizers breaking up a 1969 Abortion Reform Hearing in New York. The work of those organizers pushed forward the most progressive laws on abortion in the United States, and that law was used as a model by the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade; in that case the Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States ensures a pregnant woman can seek out an abortion without excessive government restriction. This ruling granted legal access to abortion for the first time since it was federally outlawed in 1873 (see more on the history of birth control and abortion laws in the United States in Without Apology: The Abortion Struggle Now. The Guerilla theater was performed at NWL's Annual Roe v. Wade Anniversary Benefit Show in 2018.
