Join the final push to get abortion on the ballot!
We're in a critical stage of our fight to take back abortion rights in Florida, and we need your help to get across the finish line!
We have a chance to get an abortion rights referendum on the 2024 ballot in Florida, which would let the voters decide on a constitutional amendment protecting abortion rights. We need 900,000 valid petitions statewide to make this happen, and we're over halfway to our goal. November is the most crucial month for petition gathering, and District 3 (containing Alachua County) is one of the most crucial congressional districts in need of more petitions right now!
What's more, any day now the Florida Supreme Court is expected to decide a case about the 15-week abortion ban in Florida. If that ban is upheld, 30 days after that ruling, the 6-week ban on abortion passed this legislative session will take effect. The result is essentially a total abortion ban since most women don't know they're pregnant at 6 weeks.
Here's what you can do now to fight back:
After the Supreme Court rules on the 15-week ban, join us & other orgs that Saturday at 1pm for a picket and petition signing event in downtown Gainesville. Meet at the SE corner of Univ. Ave. & SE 1st St. (near Bo Diddley Plaza). Follow NWL on Instagram at @nwlgainesville for up to date information.
Canvass for petition signatures and promote abortion rights with other volunteers at an upcoming local event. RSVP not required, but email us at nwl@womensliberation.org if you want to meet up with us at an event, otherwise, look for us carrying clipboards and/or wearing NWL shirts:
