Stand up to Trump’s Attempt to Outlaw Federal Unions
The Trump administration and Elon Musk are trying to dismantle all the services and safeguards we’ve won from our federal government after a century of people’s movements, from Social Security to the Post Office, from the Environmental Protection Agency to the Veterans Administration, from the Department of Education to the Centers for Disease Control.
But Trump and Musk have encountered one big obstacle to their rampage: UNIONS. Federal workers have mobilized, raised the alarm, and successfully sued to stop the worst.
So now Trump is coming for them. On Thursday he signed an executive order claiming to eliminate unions for up to a million federal workers. As we’ve seen, unions are the only organizations with the strength and resources right now to fight the takeover and destruction of our government by these rich male supremacists.
Please support the Federal Unionists Network. Sign up for their rapid action network. They have a plan to mobilize community members and workers who are affected everywhere there is an attack, and to go on the offense with town meetings explaining what is happening and why we need the services Trump and Musk are slashing. We include their latest below, and some background reading.
We can win against these fascists, but it’s going to take all of us mobilizing.
National Women’s Liberation urges you to take these four action steps in priority order below against the Trump Executive Order aiming to destroy our country’s largest national labor union, American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE):
1) Make the one phone call requested in the AFGE action alert below.
2) If you are a federal worker whose workplace is represented by the union AFGE, sign up to be a member through E-Dues immediately. If you are already an AFGE dues-paying member through payroll deduction, AFGE urges you to immediately switch to E-Dues on their website. This is critically important as federal agencies may stop payroll dues deduction this week, which would starve the union of resources to fight.
3) Sign up for the Emergency Organizing call, today, Sunday, March 30th @ 5pm, organized by the Federal Unionists Network. This link also allows you to sign a federal union pledge of support. All of us are needed in this meeting, not just federal workers.
4) Attend the upcoming national day of action in your community on Saturday, 4/5, People’s Veto Day, organized by the 50501 movement.
