NWL’s Allison Guttu on the WRFG Revolutionary African Perspectives Radio Show

On March 25, 2018, National organizer, Allison Guttu spoke on WRFG Revolutionary African Perspectives Radio Show; she spoke about on her work with National Women's Liberation (NWL) and how the NWL Women of Color Caucus's work impacts and influences the group as a whole. Guttu and the host, Nyeusi Jami, discussed both Triple Militancy and the Social Wage.  WRFG (Radio Free Georgia) is a non-profit, listener-supported station that broadcasts from Atlanta.

NWL is working to increase consciousness why we don't have the social wage: why raising children is so difficult and expensive in the U.S., and why birth control and abortion so difficult to access. The 1% benefits from the status quo where birth control obstacles prevent women from having control over our reproductive lives, and then face years of unpaid work to raise children. In our current conditions, the 1% get the benefit of more workers without investing in their creation or care. In other countries, the 1% are forced to contribute through social wage programs; see Redstockings of the Women's Liberation Movement, “Women's Liberation & National Health Care: Confronting the Myth of America” for more on the social wage gains that have been made in other countries.
